About Adele Billinghay

Glass has a special quality as it transmits, transforms and holds light through colour and texture. I use waste glass which usually ends up in landfill sites and can be temperamental to use yet it produces fascinating results so I prefer to make into something with a continuing story.

I am inspired by nature, erosion, reflections and shadows and include these elements in my work by fusing fine wires and vibrant enamels along with monographic photos and hand drawn details into the glass.

As old glass has many different properties that can be affected by the heat of the kiln the final results can be unpredictable. However this adds an element of excitement and anticipation each time I create something new and ensures that every form is as unique as its origins.
