About Bob Emmett

I studied at Ipswich School of Art and Lowestoft College of Further Education in the 1970’s, then worked as a freelance ceramics designer for several potteries in Hampshire during the 1980’s. I was an Art and Design technician and part time lecturer at Portsmouth School of Art ( now University of Portsmouth) during the 1990’s.

I have always had a fascination of the sea, its moods and movement, so I try very hard to get a sense of movement in my work. I mostly work in stoneware but am wrestling with porcelain. The translucent quality gives so many more possibilities for playing with light. The techniques I use in producing my pots are, wheel thrown, slab rolled and slip cast. Sizes vary between 4cm to 35cm in height, and prices range from £30.00 to £500.00.
